This monument made of Georgia gray granite, began as a tribute to Johnson County soldiers who gave their lives in World War 1, World War 2, Korea, and Vietnam. Many years after its 1989 installation, tributes were added to those who perished in Iraq and Afghanistan. The monument, measuring 13 feet by 6 feet, was the brainchild of Franklin resident Ronald Humes and was made possible by local veterans’ organizations and community support.
