Diedrich A. Bohlen

Bohlen, the renowned German-American architect who designed the remarkable “I” shaped home, built other notable Indianapolis buildings like St. John Catholic Church and Crown Hill Cemetery Chapel. The Pleasant Run Children’s Home is the last surviving example of a 19th century Indianapolis orphanage, partly due to Bohlen’s stately design of the home. | Source: IU Indianapolis Libraries, Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives
